A 345 KV TRANSMISSION LINE PROJECT
About the Project
The approved 20-mile, 345 kV Empire State Line will travel through Erie and Niagara counties to enable greater utilization of renewable energy to flow from the Robert Moses Niagara Hydroelectric Power Plant and electricity imports from Ontario, Canada. When in service, the line will improve electric reliability across the New York State electric grid and support New York’s goal of maximizing the flow of energy from renewable resources in the region. Furthermore, the line, which will allow for an additional 3,700 MW of renewable energy to be delivered into New York, is expected to provide cost savings for New York utility customers by making the state’s electric grid more efficient.
This project is being built by NextEra Energy Transmission New York, Inc. (NEETNY) an experienced transmission service provider and a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Transmission, LLC.
